Buy CostPulse through your AWS account
CostPulse is listed on AWS Marketplace at the same prices as buying direct: Starter $49/month and Team $99/month. The charge appears on your AWS bill, so there is no new vendor record, no separate invoice and no card to file.
What you get
The same CostPulse as a direct subscription. When a service's spend jumps above its 7-day baseline, an alert lands in Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and says what moved: the usage type, how much more of it, and which tag owns it. A weekly digest covers the rest.
1 AWS account. Slack or Teams. Up to 2 alert channels. Daily detection and a weekly digest.
Up to 5 AWS accounts. Slack and Teams. Unlimited alert channels. Per-account channel routing and priority email support.
The 14-day free trial is available when you sign up directly, not through Marketplace. You can try it first and buy through Marketplace afterwards.
How fulfilment works
- Subscribe on the listing
Open CostPulse on AWS Marketplace, choose Starter or Team, and subscribe with your AWS account.
- Choose "Set up your account"
AWS sends you to CostPulse. Sign in, or create a CostPulse account if this is your first visit. Your Marketplace subscription is then linked to that account and your plan is set from what you bought.
- Copy your External ID
The confirmation page shows an External ID unique to your CostPulse account, with a copy button. The CloudFormation stack asks for it: it is what lets the role be assumed by CostPulse for your account and no one else.
- Launch the stack with Quick Launch
Run Quick Launch from the Marketplace page, or use the Launch CloudFormation stack button on the confirmation page, and paste the External ID. For the full setup it runs in the payer (management) account, in us-east-1, because that is where AWS delivers billing exports. It creates the read-only role and a billing export.
- Pick where alerts go
Connect Slack, Microsoft Teams or email. Recent spend is backfilled from Cost Explorer as soon as the stack connects. The first full billing export can take up to 24 hours to arrive.
If the hand-off link from AWS has expired, open your subscription on AWS Marketplace and choose Set up your account again. It brings you back with a fresh link.
Billing on your AWS bill
AWS bills the subscription and it shows up on the AWS invoice you already reconcile. CostPulse never sees a card for a Marketplace subscription.
If you have an AWS spend commitment, Marketplace purchases may count toward it, depending on your agreement with AWS. Check with your AWS account team before relying on it.
If your CostPulse account already has a card subscription, cancel it on your account page before linking a Marketplace subscription, so you are never billed twice.
Least privilege: 6 read actions
s3:ListBucket: find new billing export files, in the CostPulse export bucket onlys3:GetBucketLocation: reach that bucket in its regions3:GetObject: read the export files, under the export prefix onlyce:GetCostAndUsage: backfill recent daily spend from Cost Explorer when you connectcloudwatch:GetMetricData: per-model Bedrock invocation and token countscloudwatch:ListMetrics: find which Bedrock models have metrics
That is the whole policy. No write, delete or configuration-change permission anywhere in your account, and CostPulse calls every action it holds. The role trusts only CostPulse's AWS account, and only with your External ID.
One limit worth knowing: the two CloudWatch read actions cannot be scoped to a namespace in IAM, so the grant covers every CloudWatch metric in the account, although CostPulse queries only Bedrock's. Metrics only, no logs.
Statement by statement, with resources and the raw template: IAM permissions.
Private offers
Need different terms, more accounts, or a procurement process that requires an offer addressed to your AWS account? Ask for a private offer. Include the AWS account ID that will accept it; the email template prompts for the rest.
